i'm in bridgeport, sitting next to ma at a computer in the library... we've just done a crazy river section - although in reality they were not anywhere near as tricky to cross as the trail rumours may have suggested...
this is 12 oz, who i've hiked the last section with, crossing a log by the 'shimmy' method... shimmiable is a word which has recently entered our vernacular... i walked across this one, but many are partially submerged and quite slick and the shimmy method works well...
and this is a crazy log jam, which was the second section of this river... the first involved getting wet part way up my shirt, and the third almost chest deep (unnecessarily - i stepped into a bit which was deceptively deep - annie stepped into a bit armpit deep and wet her pack...). it felt like some kind of maniacal aqua challenge...
this is looking up river while negotiating the log jam...
and this is annie, crossing the log jam. certain sections are just floating bark, or logs, which sink the moment you step on them...
I love it how you just casually 'mention' that you're sitting next to your mum! I'm so excited for you 3! It's been months Kylie, months, since you've seen a familiar face. I know you must be ecstatic. Did your parents do the tricky side of Yosemite with you or are you going to loop back later alone? Sounds pretty tricky with raging river torrents etc! You guys are way too tough.
